Sport Psychology and Research Methods

The department of Sport Psychology and Research Methods under the direction of Prof. Dr. Achim Conzelmann is concerned with questions of sport psychology and fundamental questions of interdisciplinary sport science (theory of science, research methodology; research methods).

On the one hand, our research focuses on fundamental topics of sport psychology: e.g. personality/identity, psychological and motor development in the life course, motivation/volition, meaningfulness and culture-related aspects of sport psychology. On the other hand, we work on research topics that require interdisciplinary approaches, such as talent selection and promotion, careers in and after elite sport, successful ageing through sport, individual sports counselling and school sports research. In terms of methodological issues, we focus on a person-oriented approach and qualitative approaches to social research.
