With its broad orientation, the study of sport science opens the way to various professional fields from sport management and sport tourism to children, youth, adult and health sport.

In teaching, emphasis is placed on a pronounced networking between theoretical and practical sport-methodological events. The ISPW offers a bachelor's programme with a broad sports science orientation as well as master's programmes, which allow for a focus on specific interests and professional fields.

With the Specialist Didactics Centre for Sport at the PH Berne (Fachdidaktikzentrum Sport) and the interlocking of theory and practice courses, the study program offers a sound basis, especially for students who are aiming for a later teaching position at school. Students who are more interested in research are offered the opportunity to participate in the diverse research activities of the Institute within the framework of the Master's in Sport Science Research, which is unique in the German-speaking world.

The Institute of Sport Science supports qualified top athletes so that they can combine study and sport in the best possible way.
