This CAS focuses on the psychological and pedagogical aspects in dance.
Dance Science addresses training, lifestyle and performance of professional dancers as well as the effects of dance activities on different populations. With origins in sport science, dance science establishes a strong link between theory and practice.
The CAS in Dance Science: Psychology & Education focuses on the psychological and pedagogical aspects in dance. On the basis of the latest findings from sports and dance psychology candidates will acquire different psychological concepts and compare and reflect upon them critically in relation to their practical experience. The programme will encourage candidates to develop advanced skills from the field of sports and dance pedagogy, which allow them to design and implement dance curricula for a range of dance populations.
The duration of the CAS in Dance Science: Psychology & Education is one year and started in February 2017 for the first round, since then every two years (next rounds: 2021, 2023...). The programme allows dance professionals to pursue their degree whilst continuing to work. It is aimed at dancers, teachers, choreographers and artistic directors as well as allied health care specialists and scientists with an affinity for dance.
Upon completion of all module components, candidates will receive a CAS in Dance Science: Psychology & Education from the University of Bern (CAS DSPE Unibe). A diploma supplement lists the detailed content of the programme as well as the effected skills and abilities. The applied CAS programme qualifies the absolvents to continue their study in the MAS in Dance Science programme of the University of Bern.
