Ceremonial awarding of Bachelor’s degrees in Sport Science
On 21 October 2026, 54 students, together with around 150 guests, celebrated the successful completion of their Bachelor’s degrees in Sport Science at UniS.
Following the welcoming remarks by Prof. Dr. Siegfried Nagel, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Human Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mirko Schmidt, Director of the Institute of Sport Science, provided an insight into the institute and its work. Dr. Nina Schorno also introduced the Sport Science Alumni Association, which enables alumni to maintain contact with the university even after they have completed their studies.
The highlight of the ceremony was, of course, the presentation of the diplomas by Prof. Dr. Mirko Schmidt and Prof. Dr. Claudio R. Nigg. Laila Gurtner, Meline Bodenmann and Derya Hintermann were specially honoured for achieving the top three Bachelor’s degrees. The musical performances by cellist Valentina Velkova and the reception that followed provided a festive and atmospheric backdrop to the ceremony.
We would like to offer our warmest congratulations to all our 93 graduates on successfully completing their studies and wish them every success and all the best for their future careers and personal lives!
