Talent Diagnostics

Within the framework of several research projects in the field of talent research, various instruments for talent diagnostics have been developed, especially in the sport of football. The instruments (some of which have been adopted) cover psychological and motor characteristics as well as the sporting environment (e. g., family, club, coach). For all instruments, a detailed documentation is available.

Questionnaire on psychological characteristics: The area of psychological characteristics is covered by questionnaires on motivation and volition (sport performance motivation, self-determination and performance orientation) and self-concept characteristics (individual self-efficacy in football and physical self-concept in football), which are presented to the potentially talented participants.

Player assessment in football: The player assessment is based on a survey of coaching staff as well as players on the topics of technique, tactical-cognitive skills, personality (e.g., self-regulation, achievement goal orientations or action control), physical factors, social factors and assessment of potential (achievable level of play).

Questionnaire on the sporting environment: On the one hand, the environment is assessed by way of a questionnaire (for potential talents) on coaching behavior, parental behavior and the athletic and school/professional career. On the other hand, there is a questionnaire (for parents) on the topics of the talented child's sports career and school/education as well as those of other family members.

Diagnostics of achievement-motivated behavior: The instrument for recording achievement-motivated behavior in individual sports (AMBIS-I) or team sports (AMBIS-T) makes it possible to assess performance-motivated behavior in the areas of proactivity, ambition, and commitment in athletes aged twelve and older (evaluation tools AMBIS-I, AMBIS-T).
